MERRELL REUNION IN ARDMORE, TENNESSEE ON JULY 8, 2007
The descendants of Garrett Merrell that populated Lincoln and Giles counties in Tennessee held their bi-annual reunion on July 8, 2007 in Ardmore, Tennessee. Garrett was the son of Benjamin Wiseman Merrill, who was the son of Andrew Merrill, who was the son of Captain Benjamin Merrill and Jemima Smith. A large crowd was present and they reflected some of the many family names that have merged with the Merrell family on that area such as Whit and Lewter. Some descendents of Ben and Jemima’s son Charles were also present, including Tom Merrill of Birmingham and Louis Merrell of Shelby County, Alabama.
Thanks to Elden Merrell and his wife Trudie, along with their helpers, for putting on a great meeting.
Faye Merrell Hand proved to be the slipperiest cousin, so much so she now has a new nickname, “The Teflon Cousin”. Even her name tag would not stick to her clothing and two different types were tried! In the end her slickness did not help her, as she was “volunteered” to head the next reunion, to be held in 2009.
